This image is the representation of the clouds being jealous whenever I go on an attempt to take some astrophotography or anything that seems interesting in the night sky. I found it odd when trying to photograph the halo, with my only lens, that the cloud actually creeped in, in a 30 second exposure, then making it look like a hand was trying to take away the moon. Or at least I think so in my opinion.

As much as I love the clouds and how light shines through them when it is a good cloudy day, even though I don’t take much photography of it, their help is not appreciated when they try to pry away the beauty.

This is too awesome on my opinion to not get my attention or at least a mention in this photo blog, which it will now.

So from my liked pages on facebook, I happened to come across this beautiful piece of work. Now I am not sure how much of these posters are considered design to some out there, but to me they are considered minimalist posters for classic video games. You could not need anything else to represent these icons in games other than the items they can be most easily represented with.

Though im sad they did not have more, or a megaman one for that matter, they are still well done and they receive my kudos.

Lately, not that I have been feeling under the weather, but I have just not been feeling like posting. It’s not a big issue to me to blog and I am not really one to talk much about what goes on in my life, especially on the internet, unless I engage in a conversation. This is my design photo blog and the reason I have it its just so I won’t steer away from the design world and to keep myself busy in my freelance world. As I much as I try to keep myself busy in this town in the middle of nowhere, there seems to be no fruition. It’s easy to say that it will pay in the end, but maintaining a section of my life in order and effort that is not making my career advance in any direction, or so I feel, tends to not make me want to work on marketing myself.

It’s a never ending battle against new clients trying to rip off the designer and giving any reason find “discounts”. I understand that’s what life is about, fighting for what you believe in or in order to make life comfortable. It gets annoying…

When I really think about it, there are a lot more several reasons as to why my confidence in doing freelance has gone down in the last few months. Of course im not going to list them since I find this to be a blog, and not my personal rant page, but it can be both since this blog is about my thoughts in the design world… rants about design.

Anyhow, as a fresh new year, I promised myself to just make it a habit, like checking facebook, then getting tired of it, closing the tab, opening a new one, then pressing the f key and hitting enter only to end up in facebook again. I usually hate making resolutions because I see no reason to not start resolutions at any other given time, but let’s try to make life work all over again. I also expect it to be easier this time since now that I have a daytime job, income will come more easily and the marketing for the business will make it easier.

So, it’s time to get back to work again, even if I have no followers, I’ll work on that too. Maybe even getting on that 365 day lettering challenge. Let’s work together

An attempt at capturing the Leonid meteor shower.

Sadly, nothing was captured, so the photo shoot became a blurry astrophotography. The good part is, this 4th attempt at night photography allowed me to capture the milky way.

Yes of course. I can design it in any way you may like, be it landscape or portrait or for the invitation to be a certain size to fit into an envelope. As long you you have an idea in mind of what you are looking for, then the invitations will come out as you would envision them. But not only in design, in paper, type, circular dye cuts or images.

I do promise the best design but as for anything relating to special ink or embossing and or de-bossing is another matter.

A series of color variation posters I crated for a local halloween event. Not the final result I wanted to come up with but with the date approaching fast and me procrastinating I had to move. The poster was designed to target the anime community along with any others interested in the area. As you can see I tried not to be cliche by adding anything anime related, but more to just make the poster look “cool” to appeal to a young demographic.

Just trying to interpret a joke, and a childhood memory. That less than and greater than symbol always looked like a mouth trying to eat the numbers. Never could tell the difference between symbols, since I was rather slow at Math….for 18 years.

I have to hand it to the marketing team at Dodge for the Dodge Dart campaign for making me want this car, just for the commercials. Usually I am not a sucker for billboards or advertisements, nor flyers and postcards, unless they are designed well with good typography, but that tends to be on a rare occasion. The last good postcard I ever saw was from sprint that came on the mail and it played with the typography on a book as you changed the small pages, but that’s another story.

As for the Dodge Dart, the first time I saw the full commercial on t.v., I had to see it again due to the fact the imagery and dialogue were completely different from the regular boring typical commercials. After a good month and a half I’d probably seen the commercial about 50 times…or more, since I find it so interesting. And the reason why I would say I love this commercial, is not only because its different, or I find it different, but because I would say its probably the first commercial I fall for and that makes me want something. As much as I like Old spice commercials I only buy them as a necessity and because I personally prefer the smell, but other than that, commercial advertisement do not usually make me want to buy or call anyone, especially since I have never had need of a lawyer. But I guess commercial advertisements are intended for those with the a need. I have no need of a car, mine works fine, and I wish I could upgrade but not when freelance is my only source of income, but I willingly admit, I want this car just for the mere commercial.

This is the second commercial for the Dodge Dart, and only lasting at 30 seconds, its just as good as the first one that lasts a minute and a half.

Sometimes, a designer struggles with clients, so a solution has to be made.

Sometimes, as much as I try to feel the client part of project and let him know I am there to design and interpret his thoughts, they don’t seem to quite get it. Sometimes, I end up being the tool that is used then put away. Sometimes, some business owners need to realize that I provide a service, and that I am not trying to make some money on the side with “my hobby”. Sometimes, they need to understand, that I know what I am doing, and that if I am not sure of something, I will simply answer “I don’t know” instead of lying to you.

I am a professional, I am a business, and I’m here to design.
